Taking a walk

Andrew: Mom, can we go for a walk on the sidewalk?

No, honey, b/c mommy can't really walk right now.

Andrew: Well, how 'bout I put you in the stroller and I push you?

I don't really think I'd fit, honey.

Andrew: Well, how 'bout you sit in the wagon then?

I don't really think I'd fit in there either.

Gotta give him credit for creativity and persistance!

Apparently, we need to work on tact

Andrew: "Hey Mommy, your tummy looks FAT!"

Good thing we're nearly at the 7 month mark, so I'm SUPPOSED to be...

Brotherly Love

Andrew to Peter: "Remember when you were a little baby and I just loved you with all my heart?"

Peter: "Yeah"

Me: "Do you still love Peter?"

Andrew: "Yeah, I sure do."

V-Dubs

Yesterday in the Lowe's parking lot, Peter screams, "Blue one!"

Peter and flowers

Springtime in Texas means bluebonnets...which both Andrew & Peter have gotten fairly adept at identifying along the roadsides.

Peter can also identify Indian paintbrushes, or "indy pain-brushes" as he calls them. And, today, he added pink poppies - or "pink 'fwoppies'" - to the list.

Name Confusion

Andrew has been practicing writing his letters. He likes to write his name (with a little help on the spelling) and surprised us the other day by writing "Pop" all by himself - without any help on the spelling at all. Jim asked him if he could then write my name, too, and helped him spell it out.

Upon finishing, Andrew proudly ran over to me yelling: "Hey Amy! I wrote your name, look!"

I looked...he spelled "mom".

Peter and Rain

I went to get Peter out of the car on a day where it was cloudy and barely sprinkling.

I opened the door and few small drops made it into the car..and onto Peter.
He shrieked: "Ahh! I gettin' all 'sprinky'!"

Animal Credit problems?

Andrew on animals -

"Hey mom, did you know how animals protect themselves? Skunks have stinky stuff to protect themselves from 'creditors'. Porcupines have spikes to protect themselves from 'creditors' and bees have 'stungs' to protect themselves from 'creditors'."

Extra Curricular activities

Andrew has been in a Spanish class once a week. He sort-of has a love-hate relationship with the class. He complains about going ahead of time, but then talks of nothing else for the next several days. He would REALLY like to take a gymnastics class at the local rec center, but Mom's been lazy and hasn't been over to sign him up yet.

The other day, he asked (again): "Can I take the English gymnastics class again sometime?"

I guess it would be pretty challenging to take gymnastics in Spanish...

Big Words, Little Person

Peter's attempt at large(r) words:

hippopotamus = "hippie-promise"

sandwich = "swaaam-mitch"

Peter and the Tower

Peter made a tower out of duplo blocks and gingerly set it up on the floor.

He then proceeded to ram a hot wheel into it and knock it over.

"I knock it over! I timbered-did it!"

to tuck or not to tuck...

Andrew tucked his t-shirt into his basketball shorts.
Me: "Honey, you don't have to tuck in your shirt."
Andrew: "Well, I just want to look perfect!"

Me: "Well, you don't tuck stuff into those shorts. Just church shorts."
Andrew: "Well, Grandma tucked in my sweatshirt that one time...."

Ah...grandmas...

Easter 2010 - part 2

Easter Sunday - mass, photos, Easter baskets, egg hunt and a spectacular meal cooked mostly by Jim!

The boys dressed up for Easter

Mom and the boys -
I love Peter's face in this one!

Pop-pop and the boys

Easter "baskets" - chocolate crosses, sidewalk chalk, dominoes, sacrifice beads, magic capsules, flowers to plant and slinkies (which were destroyed by the day's end).

Eyeing the contents - we were mean parents and made them wait until AFTER mass for their stuff.

Peter and his sunflower planter.

Andrew and his flowers.

Time for the Easter Egg hunt!

"Ha ha ha! It on Pop-pop's tire!"

Peter and the duckie basket.
Can you tell he did his boots himself?

Jim's spectacular pasta dinner - complete with meatballs, Italian sausage and ribs. And some of the best wine, ever!

Easter - part I

Nanny & Poppa hosted an Easter egg hunt at their house on Saturday for the "big" boys - Ethan, Andrew & Peter. Baby Luke blissfully slept through the majority of the day...but next year, he'll be in the running!

Peter got a 10 second head start...which wasn't really helpful...lol.

Andrew filling his basket.

Ethan finding eggs.

Peter finds one in a grassy spot.

I got 6 eggs!! :)
(Nevermind that Andrew found 12-13 and Ethan found over 20!)

Andrew happy with his treats.

Big E

Attempting a group shot...

2nd try...

Final attempt - they were ready to eat their treats!

Little Brothers ARE good for something...

Andrew hates pickles.
Peter likes pickles.
Therefore, any pickles that mistakenly end up on a burger or sandwich belonging to Andrew will get transferred to Peter's dish.

The other night, Andrew & Pop-pop went out to dinner before their hockey game trip...for burgers. Andrew's burger (of course) had pickles on it.

Andrew, in some distress said, "Oh no! Peter's not here! Who's going to eat my pickles?!"

Peter, the baker...

Andrew & Pop-pop went to a hockey game...so Peter and I made some cakes for Easter. He thoroughly enjoyed 'helping' (i.e. - trying the batter).
