Many Mary's

Andrew was trying to read the "church book" left in the car by Peter. It was about Our Lady of Fatima.

They came to a page with a picture of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on it and Andrew said, "Look. there's Mary!"

Peter argues, "No! That's not Mary!"

Andrew explains, "Yes, it IS Mary. She just has lots of different names and wears lots of different colors. She has even more names than Jesus does, I think."

He then went on to give a few examples of Mary's names and Jesus' names.
Good to know he's paying attention!

Hey God, Are You there...?

Andrew initiated this conversation with me this morning.

"This morning, when I waked up, I made the sign of the cross, and said 3 Hail Mary's just like Father said at mass, and then a Our Father and a Glory Be. But, when I was saying the prayers, I waked up Peter."

"Well, you could just say the prayers in your head. You don't have to say them out loud."

"But...I just want to make sure God hears me."

Don't worry, honey...I think he hears you just fine.

miracle 'grow'

Our regular priest, Fr. L, is average height - probably 5'9", 5'10". Today, there also happened to be a seminarian helping at mass. He was very tall - over 6 feet.
Both Father and the seminarian are blonde, but it was easy to tell them apart during mass because one was dressed as a priest, and the other as an altar server.

After mass, both Fr. L and the seminarian came to the parish hall, both wearing their black cassocks.

The boys were sitting at a table enjoying some post-mass snacks and Peter, looking towards a cassock-clad man, says to me incredulously, "Wow! Fr. L sure growed tall!"

I followed his gaze across the room...

He was looking at the seminarian.

more teeth!

Clara now has about (at least?) 8 teeth - at 9.5 months.
4 on top, 4 on the bottom.

This is my best guess, as she's not too keen on either of us sticking our fingers into her mouth to check...

pick a color, any color

Andrew: "Wow! There are like a million, zillion, googleplex of colors."

Pudding flavors

Jim mentioned that 'banana pudding' was his favorite the other night at dinner.

Andrew decided that would be his favorite, too.

Peter claimed he wanted to have 'Barbecue Pudding'.

Superheroes

The boys have been VERY interested in Superheroes lately, specifically Superman, Batman, & Robin. They then try to plan their wardrobe accordingly: a red shirt means they can be Superman, a navy blue or gray shirt means they can be Batman. And, as those are the only 2 superheroes I knew something about, that's about as far as we got for 'costumes'

They also want to know about the 'bad guys' they fight. I told them Batman fought the Joker, the Penguin, and Catwoman. Later, I heard them playing what they call 'Batman Superheroes' (because they were wearing navy blue and gray shirts).

They were fighting against "Kitty-woman".

***********

Tonight, while deciding which superheroes to be. Peter dressed up in green and declared himself to be 'Lizard-man'.

A few minutes later, he decided he wanted to be 'Kitty-man'.

Andrew told him, "You can't be 'Kitty-woman' b/c she's bad!"

Peter replied, "No, I'm not going to be 'Kitty-woman', I'm going to be 'Kitty-man'! He's a good guy!"

nicknames

Uncle Mike, to Andrew: "Can I call you 'drew'?"

Andrew: "No!"

"Wait...what is a 'drew' anyways?"

Cowboy Jim?

The boys were helping me clean the Master bedroom closet, when they came upon Jim's old pair of cowboy boots. The following commentary was hysterical!

"Mom! Pop-pop has BOOTS?!"

"Pop-pop was a COWBOY?!"

"When was Pop-pop a cowboy?!"

and, my personal favorite:

"When Pop-pop wears his boots, does he turn into a cowboy?"

forever a baby?

Peter: "How long was I a baby?"
Andrew: "Um...about 45 years."
