Almighty Belching

Andrew let out a huge burp one afternoon, and of course had to tell Pop-pop all about it at dinner time.

"I did a burp like yours, but it was really different. It was just REALLY loud, like one of Jesus' burps!"

Apparently we need to work a little more on those Catechism lessons...or further clarify what we mean by 'Jesus can do anything'.

Dinner Tonight

According to Andrew, tonight we had stir fry chicken with 'cous-lous'

Peter called it "goose loose."

"Seussian" insult?

Dr. Seuss is known for making up words - Lorax, Sneeds, Wockets..
The boys have taken a page from his book and made up the word "Bockern Talk-ern".

Apparently, this is a REALLY bad thing and the worst insult ever - sort of like Shakespeare biting his thumb at another person.

We've had to outlaw the use of "bockern talkern" to avoid heated arguments.

I guess I should be happy they're not calling each other 'stupid'?

Peter and the scented spray

Peter - pointing at the counter (where there was most definitely NO blender present) - "There's 'blender'"

Jim and I quizzically looked at each other.

Again: "See...there's blender."

Amy: "Oh...you mean lavender!"

Peter: "Yeah, there's blender! It smell way good on my pillow!"

Andrew and the caterpillar

Andrew was intently watching a caterpillar crawling around on the back porch.

"Hey Pop-pop, is the caterpillar eating the cement?"

Jim: "No, I don't think caterpillars eat cement."

Andrew: "Caterpillar! No! You can't eat the cement!"

Fire Station Tour

We took a trip to our local fire station with some friends. We had a great time meeting the firemen, seeing their tools, the station...and especially their trucks! We learned A LOT about how they do their jobs and keep us safe.

Compartment of the truck with tools - including a 'wood chopper' as Andrew called it

Firemen boots & pants...and a hat to try on.
Johnny & Peter look on as Annie tries the hat.

They pulled the truck out of the garage (sans sirens). It was noisy!
(Annie, Aidan, Andrew, Tommy)

Still noisy...

Climbing into the BIG fire truck!

Aidan, Peter & Annie look on in the truck as the fireman shows them some of their cool tools!

The walkie-talkies were by far the coolest tools according to the kids!

Andrew and the GPS

We used the GPS today for the first time in a long time, which elicited some funny comments from Andrew.

GPS: Turn left, then bear right.
Andrew: Bear right?! There are no bears in Texas!!

GPS: Continue straight ahead.
Andrew: But it doesn't have a head!
