boy/girl confusion

Andrew: "Is it a girl or a boy?"
Me: "Is what a girl or a boy?"
Andrew: "The baby that we just had..."

Me, stifling a chuckle: "She's a girl."

Isn't it funny and adorable how older siblings adopt their new baby brother or sister as their own? Cecilia called Elizabeth her baby for months.
